Artists Aaron R. Thomas and Anne Ewen
Today I photographed local artist Aaron R. Thomas and his co-designer Anne Ewen for 944 Magazine. We had a ball. I don't know what Aaron and Anne were expecting when I showed up, but when I saw all the paintings and plexiglas sculptures I thought, "PROPS!"

What I found so much fun with this shoot was that Aaron and Anne's art inspired me to do more innovative things to show it (and them) off.

Yes, obviously. 944 just started their OC edition last fall I think, I remember seeing an ad online calling writers and photographers. They listed compensation as "nothing," because it was just beginning and they didn't have a huge budget, so initially I didn't apply.

Then my friend from high school who is a freelance writer started doing work for them and wrangled me in to shoot one of her articles. They actually paid me for it and apparently the editor really admires my work, so now she assigns me (paid) work on a somewhat regular basis.

If your friend is looking to get involved, I can e-mail her the editor's name and e-mail, or she can find it online, maybe.

i love the fan shots! there was obviously a fan there then?

i'm considering getting a big fan- for the day i do studio work... :)

Haha, yeah I had them pull in a fan and an air hose from their workshop and give her hair some luvvin'!
